Oceanside villa is secluded, private, impossible to leave
The sexiest bedroom in the world has been named by a panel of judges as part of the Smith Hotel Awards, which “showcase the world’s most stylish stays”. The winner? Water Villas at Six Senses Ninh Van Bay in Vietnam.
The resort can only be reached by boat, making the location remote and romantic. Once there, Six Senses have blended luxury with rusticity to create a romantic bubble of barefoot chic.
Set beside the ocean, overlooking a coral reef, the villas are secluded, private and impossible to leave. If you need a break from watching the sunsets from the enormous bed facing the water in your door-less hideaway, wooden steps will lead you directly to the sea.
“Water Villa 5 is the pick of the bunch, with an infinity-edge plunge pool set seductively into the rocks, a private ladder leading into the ocean, and rustic-luxe good looks that conjure a cocoon of pure castaway romance,” the Mr and Mrs Smith editors enthuse.
The two runners up in this category were rooms at the Viceroy New York and Bellevue Syrene in Sorrento, Italy. The awards are in their second year and hotel-lovers voted to create top-10 shortlists in 12 categories. Overall winners were then selected by a panel of judges. Other winners this year include :
– Best Hotel Restaurant: Hartnett, Holder & Co at Lime Wood, UK
– Eco Award: Sal Salis, Australia
– Hottest Hotel Bar: The NoMad Hotel, USA
– Best Spa Hotel: House Spa at Dormy House, Cotswolds, UK
– Best Budget Hotel: 1888 Hotel, Sydney, Australia
– Best-Dressed Hotel: El Fenn, Morocco
Last year’s winner, probably no less sexy than it was in 2013, was a whiter than white hotel suite in London – the mother-of-pearl themed Corfu Suite at Blakes Hotel in Kensington.
