A day’s flights in stunning two-minute video

Timelapse film shows around 30,000 flights over Europe

Air traffic over Europe is growing. On a typical summer day there is talk of around 30,000 flights daily. Now a stunning timelapse video has been created that shows a day’s worth of flights over Europe in two minutes.

The visualisation was created by the UK air traffic controller NATS, formerly known as National Air Traffic Services, made with UK radar data and European flight information from June and July to showcase a day’s worth of air travel

The video tracks the movement of flights over the course of 24 hours in summer 2013, and condensed into just two minutes. It can be seen here.
