Head of Middle East luxury brands gives long interview
Hotel giant AccorHotels is to expand its luxury segment with a number of openings over the next year, many of them in the Middle East, as Sami Nasser, chief operating officer for Middle East luxury brands explains in an extended interview.
Openings over the coming year include the Fairmont Amman in Jordan, the Fairmont Riyadh in Saudi Arabia and two in the UAE – The Retreat Palm Dubai MGallery by Sofitel and the Fairmont Abu Dhabi Marina Resort.
Also in the pipeline are the Fairmont Fuka Bay, the Swissotel Fuka Bay and the Fairmont Cairo Pyramids Hotel & Residences, all in Egypt, as well as the Sofitel Wafi Dubai in the UAE and the MGallery Jeddah King’s Walk, Saudi Arabia.
Nasser had 25 years’ experience at AccorHotels, but in 2013 he moved to Fairmont Raffles Hotel International as senior vice president for operations for the Middle East, Africa, and India. So with the recent acquisition of FRHI by AccorHotels in 2016, he is back on familiar ground.
From his headquarters in Dubai, he now helms seven brands and two sub-brands for the Middle East. In the interview, he eloquently describes many aspects of the business.
