Air France strengthens low-cost position

France’s national carrier announces new low-cost flights

In an effort to improve its place in the low-cost race, Air France has updated its schedule for spring 2012. It will offer “cheap” flights from Toulouse and the new regional location of Nice Côte d’Azur, following on from Marseille airport which became part of the airline’s low-cost package in October. Air France will fly from Nice Côte d’Azur from April 3 to Barcelona, Athens, Istanbul, Tel Aviv and Venice. From Toulouse, 16 new routes will be added to the existing 12 from April 1, including flights to Hamburg, Vienna and Berlin.
Air France brought a low-cost operation to Marseille in October with 13 new routes. Flights to Dusseldorf have been especially popular and a new connection to Hamburg begins on March 25.
