Air travel chaos likely as strike hits

Airlines cancelling hundreds of flights

Airlines in Europe are cancelling hundreds of flights in Europe today because of a strike by French air traffic controllers. Hundreds more flights are being rescheduled.

The biggest impact of the strike is likely to be in southern France, but all flights over France will be affected.

Lufthansa is reducing its flights to and from Lyon and Marseille, although its flights to and from Paris are not affected. British Airways is warning of major disruption to services to and from French cities.

Low-cost carriers like easyJet and Ryanair have cancelled hundreds of flights to and from France today.

All airlines operating in Europe are advising passengers to check airline and airport websites before travelling to the airport. As reported, the strike is over planned changes to air traffic control practices.
