airberlin and Etihad unveil joint livery planes

Two airlines announce expansion of partnership

airberlin and Etihad Airways have unveiled an Airbus A320 in specially designed joint livery, which they say symbolises the close ties between the two and marks the launch of a new media campaign launched for 2014 called Moving Forward.

The Moving Forward campaign will be launched in January and run until March, seeing the new partnership logo of the two airlines featured in advertising and marketing across Germany.

At an event in Berlin, Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, airberlin’s chief executive officer, and James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ president and CEO as well as vice chairman of airberlin’s board of directors, gave further details of how this special partnership stands after two years.

Prock-Schauer pointed out that for airberlin these include : revenues through a common codeshare network now amount to €200 million; an expanded variety of destinations and services, with new destinations in India, South Korea and Australia; an increase to 49 weekly flights between Germany and Abu Dhabi from February 2014, from the current 42; and scale brought through equity partnership, reducing costs for both airlines.

In 2014, there will also be an expansion of the joint sales operations, building on services now provided by 17 joint sales offices located around the world and representation in more than 50 international markets.
