Airline told off for over-the-top safety videos

Films feature celebrities, models, surfers and dogs
An airline that has featured celebrities, models, surfers and dogs in its fun-to-watch safety videos has been told it shouldn’t feature so much material that it diverges from the actual message.
Air New Zealand has been told off by the country’s aviation watchdog for burying life-saving messages among celebrity cameos and eye-candy action.
An email published by One News shows that the Civil Aviation Authority has criticised the carrier for including so much material in one of its clips, its Surfing Safari video, which features professional surfers and models.
“As we have commented previously, the video diverges materially from the ‘safety message’ at times, and whilst I appreciate the need to engage the viewers, the extraneous material detracts from the scope and direction of the safety message.”
The clip was shot at locations in the US, Australia and New Zealand.
