Airlines, hotels, resorts win China travel awards

TTG China Travel Awards given to industry leaders

Three months of voting and 38,000 votes cast by travel-trade professionals have culminated at a ceremony and gala dinner for the sixth annual TTG China Travel Awards, where 59 of Greater China’s best travel trade organisations were praised for their recent achievements.
Twenty companies and organisations were first-time winners at the awards, including American Airlines, which was voted Best American Airline Servicing China. Chengdu won Best City in China (Leisure Travel) for the first time, positioning itself against other top destination front-runners. Banyan Tree Hangzhou won Best Resort in China, while Holiday Inn Resort Changbaishan won Best New Resort in China.
“It’s exciting to see destinations like Chengdu and Changbaishan opening up and developing at such a rapid rate,” TTG Asia Media’s managing director Darren Ng said.
However, Shanghai retained its Best City in China (MICE) award title for the sixth year running. Tourism Australia’s focus on MICE helped it win Best Overseas NTO in China, while the Best NTO in China award went to the Macau Government Tourist Office.
Two of last year’s “best new hotels”, Sheraton Beijing Dongcheng Hotel and St Regis Shenzhen, clinched Best Business Hotel in Beijing and Best Luxury Hotel in Shenzhen, respectively. Some of the other best new hotels this year included Twelve at Hengshan, Shanghai (Best New Hotel in Shanghai) and the Crowne Plaza Hong Kong Kowloon East (Best New Hotel in Hong Kong). Other winners included Air China, Singapore Airlines, Shanghai, Ascott China, Holiday Inn Macau, The Garden Hotel, Guangzhou and The Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel.
