Antalya becomes Turkey’s leading MICE destination

A quarter of all of Turkey’s convention tourism now in Antalya
Antalya, part of Turkey’s popular Mediterranean coastline, has become the country’s leading convention tourism city, a sector representative says.
Some 24.3% of convention and event managing companies choose Antalya, with Istanbul behind at 22.9%, Ankara at 14.2% and İzmir at 12.9%, revealed Volkan Ataman, general manager of Turizm Medya Grubu, at the ACE of MICE exhibition in Istanbul last month.
Antalya has long been one of the country’s top sun-and-sea destinations, but lately it has tried to diversify its tourism revenues.
ACE of MICE attracted 262 participants from 25 countries this year, 40% growth on last year, with around 13,000 professional visitors. May is the busiest month for event planners in Turkey, while July is the weakest.
