BA ups Shanghai flights, starts “carry-on fare”

New “hand baggage only” fare available from Gatwick

British Airways is increasing its flights to Shanghai to a daily service from six times a week. The airline said the increase would complement its new route to Chengdu, which will operate three times a week from September 22. BA started flying to Shanghai in June 2005.
In related news, British Airways has introduced a new “hand baggage only” fare available from Gatwick. For now, it will be available only to Amsterdam, Dubrovnik, Jersey, Tunis and Turin, starting from £39 (€45) one-way, but more destinations may be added. The changes coincide with the airline transferring five A319s from Heathrow to Gatwick.
