Big changes in Thailand’s tourism market

New markets supply Thailand with tourism boost
Despite a 14.3% fall in the number of tourists from European markets and a 46% fall in the number of Russian visitors in January, compared to January 2014, Thailand’s other source markets are showing strong recovery. Total arrivals during the month were up 16.3% to reach 2.7 million.
Thailand’s arrivals from East Asia grew 58.2%, from China 57% and from Malaysia 92.6%. Japan and South Korea are also performing well for Thailand.
People streamed in from the Middle East, up 31%, and from South Asia, up 19%. The Tourism Authority of Thailand is aiming for 28 million international visitors this year.
