Bloggers join Matka in social media push

Nordic travel fair brings 40 travel bloggers to Finland

Nordic Travel Fair Matka is bringing 40 international travel bloggers to Finland and Helsinki in January. The second Nordic Bloggers’ Experience (NBE) is being organised by Messukeskus Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre, in cooperation with Visit Finland and Visit Helsinki.

The first “experience” in January 2014 filled social media with Finnish winter exotics, with 150 individual postings and nearly 1000 pictures uploaded to Instagram tagged #nbeFinland. More than 15 million people were reached on Twitter.

In January 2015, the event will take bloggers to more destinations in Finland, making the program available for more bloggers in search of Finland’s unique winter. The trips are being created together with local tourism organisations.

“Last time NBE was a true success story,” said Visit Porvoo marketing manager Sari Myllynen. “The city of Porvoo got good publicity around the world and the bloggers are still in touch with us and comment on our pictures on Instagram and Facebook. The NBE also attracted attention locally.”

At Matka the bloggers will be able to meet travel professionals from around the world and join seminar and training programs tailored toward bloggers’ interests. The seminar will include topics such as different income streams for bloggers. In Helsinki they will get acquainted with the local food culture with a new food map.

Matka will be held at Messukeskus Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre, on January 15-18. The Nordic Bloggers’ Experience will take place 10-18 January.
