Boeing compensates LOT for 787 problems

Source says compensation sum is around €24mn

Boeing will give the Polish airline LOT around PLN 100 million (€24 million) in compensation for faults that grounded its 787 Dreamliner aircraft, according to a source close to the negotiations.

“The agreement assumes that LOT will get around 100 million,” the source said, adding that the payment would be in cash.

Officially, LOT and Boeing have declined to comment on the deal’s specifics.

The state-owned airline has struggled with losses for years, but following a series of cost cuts it now expects a much-improved result this year – a loss of PLN 20 million instead of a previously forecast loss of PLN 142 million. LOT received about PLN 400 million in state aid last year.
