Boeing investigates Dreamliner window crack

Crack sustained on Delhi-Melbourne Air India flight

Just weeks after a body panel fell off a 787 Dreamliner operated by Air India – an incident Boeing is still investigating – the aircraft manufacturer is now also working with the same airline on how the window in a 787 cockpit cracked as it was landing in Australia.

The crack occurred on a flight from Delhi to Melbourne, carrying 74 passengers.

An Air India spokesman suggested that the crack may have been due to rapid changes in temperature or particles on the windscreen while landing.
