Bomb threat forces emergency landing in Iceland

Aeroflot flight from New York to Moscow makes emergency landing

An Aeroflot flight from New York to Moscow made an emergency landing in Iceland this morning after a bomb threat. According to news agency reports, air traffic controllers in Moscow said that an anonymous call had warned that a bomb was on board. The threat had been made to police in the US. The caller said there were five suitcases on board containing explosives that would blow up as soon as the plane reached Moscow.
The pilot made the decision to land the aircraft, Aeroflot spokeswoman Irina Dannenberg said, and it landed safely. The plane is now being checked.
