Bookings begin for Lufthansa’s new Eurowings

Ticket sales launched for Eurowings flights from October
Bookings have started for Lufthansa’s budget long-haul airline Eurowings, with an official sales launch at ITB Berlin. Some of the first destinations for the flights, launching in October, are in the Caribbean, Thailand and Dubai.
Short- and long-haul routes can now be booked with Eurowings to fly from October 25 onwards. Intercontinental flights depart from Cologne/Bonn Airport and the cheapest tickets on long-haul routes are on offer from €99.99, according to Lufthansa.
Lufthansa Group says that “the new Eurowings is building on the successful Germanwings concept, which is positioned as an innovative quality low-cost airline and ‘low-cost’ brand in Germany and Europe.”
The idea is to expand the segment of point-to-point connections on continental and intercontinental routes to city and holiday destinations. From the 2015/16 winter flight plan onwards, the new network will include Dubai, the Thai cities of Bangkok and Phuket and the Caribbean destinations of Varadero and Punta Cana.
The intercontinental connections will be flown by Airbus A330-200 type aircraft. SunExpress, a joint venture between Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines, will operate the planes on behalf of Eurowings with its own cockpit and cabin personnel. Vienna has been chosen as the first definite location outside Germany as a Eurowings base.
