Cabin crew at Norwegian threaten strike

Strikes will occur from October 10 if mediation fails

A break has occurred in negotiations for a new agreement between the cabin crew at Norwegian and the airline. As a result, the Norwegian Cabin Crew Association has confirmed that strikes will take place from October 10.
Talks involving the airline, the association and the employee organisation Parat have broken down partly because the company has rejected a request for a similar policy statement on the status warranty that pilots have already received. The company believes that such claims are too expensive, the cabin crew association said in an internal message to its members.
“I can confirm that we have worked to achieve a similar statement that the pilots got,” Marit Linden, head of the association, told “Apart from the obvious differences, we believe that the crew should be treated on a par with the pilots. We see absolutely no differences, yet the claim was rejected.”
The case for a walkout has now been sent to a state mediator, but if mediation is unsuccessful the airline will in all probability have to keep its aircraft on the ground on Wednesday October 10, in the middle of Norway’s autumn break.
