Canada aims at 30% more tourists by 2021

Country to double number of Chinese visitors in five years
Canada is competing to be a top destination in the global tourism sector, its tourism minister revealed in a “new tourism vision” presented at the recent Rendez-vous Canada event in Calgary.
The country is taking on three commitments: increasing the number of international tourists to Canada by 30% by 2021; doubling the number of Chinese visitors by the same year; and positioning Canada to compete for a top 10 destination ranking by 2025.
Last year was a record one for Canadian tourism with a record 19.98 million tourists visiting the country. With the New Tourism Vision, the government plans to build on this success, to “continue growing the tourism sector and create jobs for many years to come”, said minister Bardish Chagger.
The New Tourism Vision commits to taking action on 20 priority issues – specifically, to invest in stronger and more sustained marketing, address issues related to travelling to and within the country and support Canadian tourism businesses and operators as they offer new, innovative products and services.
