Cape Town marketing with National Geographic

Campaign to reach all National Geographic platforms until June 2013

Cape Town Tourism and Durban Tourism have finalised a marketing project with National Geographic as part of an agreement to partner some of the marketing of the two cities. It is the first of a series of international activities to promote South Africa’s urban tourism at what are described as the country’s “leisure tourism hubs”.
The integrated campaign will see Cape Town and Durban feature across all National Geographic platforms for a period of 14 months until June 2013. It will include a series of TV vignettes focused on the “unique sounds” of each city, coverage in the international National Geographic Magazines editions, a social media and digital campaign, and an event in London or Washington DC. Whether or not the campaign would include sponsored features in the highly regarded magazine National Geographic was unclear.
