Carnival cruises to return to Europe in 2016

Newest vessel “truly is the greatest ship to date”

Carnival Cruise Lines will return to Europe next year with its latest ship Carnival Vista, TTG Digital reports. It will be the first time Carnival has sailed in Europe since 2013.

In two events held jointly in New York and London, the cruise line said that Vista, the newest addition to its fleet, would sail out of Athens and Barcelona on a variety of eight and 10-day sailings. The ship will begin its season on 1 May 2016 when it sails out of Trieste.

Ports of call will include Athens, Barcelona, Dubrovnik, Izmir, Corfu, Livorno, Marseilles, Messina, Naples, Rome, Trieste and Valletta. After the summer, Vista will then sail a 13-day voyage to New York.

Mark Tamis, Carnival Cruise Lines’ senior vice president guest operations, said Vista “truly is the greatest ship to date”. It will include the first IMAX cinema at sea, as well as Carnival’s famous Red Frog pub and brewery, which brews three types of beer on board.

The line has also expanded its Havana Bar area, with a pool now included, as well as Havana Cabanas – staterooms that allow guests “to connect to the ocean”. By day, the pool will only be for the use of guests in the staterooms but opens up to other passengers in the evenings.

In addition, Vista will include a new class of staterooms designed solely for families, entitled Family Harbor. The cabins will accommodate up to five people, with access to a Family Harbor lounge.
