Changes at top of online retailer eTRAVELi

Nordic firm prepares for more international expansion

As part of the strategic development of the Nordic online retailer eTRAVELi (European Travel Interactive) the current CEO Ralph Axelson is moving to a new role as vice president.

The new CEO will be Mathias Hedlund, who has served as a director since 2010 and previously held senior positions at e-commerce company Klarna, search and directory enquiries firm Eniro and online gaming company Svenska spel.

There have also been a number of management changes in other positions. While Hedlund will assume the position of CEO on March 1, Anders Kedert has been recruited as EVP operations, Henrik Svensson as sales manager and Lars Borchardt as IT manager.

European Travel Interactive AB is a leading online travel agency in the Nordic region through an array of brands such as Flygresor, Supersavertravel, Seat24 and Travelstart. The company has seen strong growth in recent years and now says it is entering a new expansion phase.

“Since Ralph Axelson co-founded eTRAVELi seven years ago, the company has developed into a leading player in the fast-growing travel industry thanks to its extensive range of established brands,” the company’s chairman of the board, Erik Strand, said.

“The company now faces a new phase that will include extensive geographic expansion, which is why we need to bolster the management team. We’re delighted that Ralph Axelson is staying on as a driving force at the company in a new role with a focus on priority strategic initiatives and the integration of completed acquisitions.”
