CPH to get extra 2.5km baggage conveyors

Copenhagen Airport signs €12 million deal with Siemens

Copenhagen Airport has signed an agreement with Siemens for an upgrade and expansion of the airport’s baggage system. The agreement has a value of about DKK 90 million (€12 million) and the total cost of expanding the system will be DKK 250 million. The project, scheduled for completion by summer 2013, will enable the airport to handle up to 30 million passengers.
The conversion and expansion will include an additional 2.5 kilometres of baggage conveyors, making a total of nine kilometres, and will add some 500 new motors to the system. The x-ray capacity for departing baggage will also be increased substantially. The project will start up in October and is scheduled for completion in May 2013. Besides the capacity boost, CPH says that the project will also minimise system breakdowns.
