Cruise line teams up with winemakers

Norwegian Cruise Line has announced the lineup for its Meet the Winemaker series of cruises this season.

A thirteen-cruise season will give passengers on several of Norwegian Cruise Line’s ships the opportunity to pair their destinations with highly-rated wines and food.

Through a variety of seminars and activities on board, including open-forum discussions, meet-and-greets, wine tastings, wine-paired dinners, interactive cooking demonstrations and educational sessions, guests will have the opportunity to learn from well-known winemakers and other industry experts.

Each of the thirteen Meet the Winemaker cruises features vintages chosen by the expert and brought on board for these special events. The wine experiences range from $19.95 to $60 per person plus tax and gratuity and can be reserved once on board the ship.

Three-time James Beard Award winner and Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson will host events alongside chefs and other wine experts.

Spanish kick-off
Robinson kicked off the Meet the Winemaker cruises in March on Norwegian Escape with celebrity chef Antonio Hidalgo of the globally recognised, eight-generation family-owned Spanish Sherry house, Bodegas Hidalgo La Gitana. Robinson will host an additional three cruises in the series with other guest chefs.

Winemakers on upcoming cruises include Michael and Rob Mondavi from the Napa Valley, Salvatore Ferragamo from Italy, and Juan Muñoz Oca from Washington state.

The Meet the Winemaker series will take place on Norwegian Bliss, Norwegian Joy, Norwegian Escape, Norwegian Dawn and, the company’ newest ship set to debut in Miami in November, Norwegian Encore.
