Cruise line to journey to “lost city of Atlantis”

Passengers taken to archaeological site of Akrotiri

The Cyprus-based cruise line Louis Cruises has announced journeys to the archaeological site of Akrotiri on the Greek island of Santorini, following the reopening of the site after seven years of being closed to the public. The cruise is available on the line’s four-day three-night “Aegean Legends” sailings, which feature a half-day excursion of this prehistoric Minoan settlement – believed by many to be the Lost City of Atlantis. The settlement was destroyed around 1650 BC by the massive eruption of the volcano of Thira.
Visitors today can see the remains of buildings, city squares, shops and working areas as well as famous frescoes.
