Cuisine in Åre is “worth the flight”

Winner of Sverigeflyg’s Worth a Trip contest awarded

The winner of the airline brand Sverigeflyg’s Worth a Trip contest, held in cooperation with the restaurant guide White Guide, was awarded at a gala dinner this week. The award went to the gastronomic team at Ölbaren in Åre.

It is the second year that Sverigeflyg has organised the Worth a Trip award, designed to encourage Swedes to make new culinary discovery trips that are worth the price of the journey.

Ölbaren is a multiple award-winning restaurant with a quirky atmosphere known especially for its marine gastronomy.

Flights and good food are not things that most people might associate with each other – something that Sverigeflyg wants to change.

“Gastronomy has become a destination in itself,” said White Guide founder Mikael Mölstad. “More and more people want to experience the best our country has to offer when it comes to food and drink.”

Sverigeflyg does not fly direct to Åre but through collaboration with sister company Malmö Aviation offers trips to Åre from Visby, Angelholm, Halmstad, Kalmar, Växjö, Ronneby, Sundsvall Trollhättan and with a short and easy change at Bromma airport.
