Dancing screens to perform on Royal Caribbean’s Quantum

Cruise line announces details on entertainment for new vessel

Royal Caribbean has announces its line-up of entertainment for its newest cruise ship, Quantum of the Seas, during a live online event.

More detail was revealed about Two70°, a multipurpose venue on the ship that will offer a widescreen projection system called Vistarama, which transforms massive floor-to-ceiling windows into any scene, real or imagined.

The system combines 18 projectors to create a surface 30 metres wide and more than six metres tall. Across this expanse, digital shows will come to life in 12K resolution, which Royal Caribbean says is “a pixel-perfect industry first”.

In addition, six “Roboscreens” will give surprise performances throughout every cruise. Each measures about 2.2 metres high and is controlled by robotic arms, creating scenes while moving up and down, twisting solo or uniting as one.

Other on board shows include, among many others, Mamma Mia! as well as a Broadway-style after party where guests can dance in company with featured cast members from the show.  There will also be a Tribute Band Program, a line-up of live acts paying homage to bands like The Beatles, the Bee Gees, Journey and Bon Jovi.
