Danish castle wins at European Garden Awards

Egeskov Castle Park wins for “best further development”

Egeskov Castle Park in Denmark is one of the winners at the European Garden Awards, organised by the European Garden Heritage Network and the Schloss Dyck Foundation with support by Lorenz von Ehren Nurseries. The third edition of the awards resulted in a prize for the category “Best Further Development of a Historical Garden” going to Egeskov, described by Gunar Erikson, a jury member from Sweden who nominated Egeskov, as “one of the most important and largest historical gardens in Denmark”.
Substantial restoration in recent decades and careful development of the gardens has taken place on a purely private basis, overseen by Henrik Neelmeyer, chief executive officer of the castle. During extensive discussion, the outstanding work carried out by Graf Ahlefeldt, his family and the gardeners working at Egeskov became increasingly clear to the jury.
