Danish theme park is second best in Europe

But the amusement park you may be thinking of isn’t it
Denmark has the second-best amusement park in Europe, according to a respected German trade industry magazine: Fårup Sommerland in northern Jutland.
It is second only to Theme Park Tripsdrill in Germany, Kirmes & Park Revue writes in its 2015 list of Europe’s finest amusement parks, released this week.
Taking up 110 hectares, the park is Denmark’s biggest water-world and can be found near the town of Løkken. It includes a large area with attractions for smaller children.
But for the 2015 season it introduced two new waterslides, including Vandkannonen, a double-loop ride with a free fall that is the first of its kind in the world.
Yet Fårup Sommerland welcomes around 656,000 visitors a year, far fewer than the 4.5 million who visited Tivoli in Copenhagen in 2014. Danes make up about 80% of Fårup’s visitors, with Germans and Swedes representing much of the rest. So recognition from Kirmes & Park Revue is a major milestone, said Søren Kragelund, the park’s chief executive.
