Danish tourist in hot-air balloon fall

Tourist dies after fall from balloon in Turkey
A Danish tourist has died from injuries sustained in a fall during a hot-air balloon sightseeing ride above the famous sculpted rock formations of Cappadocia in central Turkey.
The individual died at the UNESCO-protected site on Saturday after “falling from the balloon which made a hard landing because of strong winds”.
The balloon was descending after the flight with 20 others on board and the victim let go of a handle in the balloon in a moment of “absent-mindedness” as they hit the ground.
The individual was rushed to hospital with multiple injuries and fractures but later died. An investigation is underway.
Several companies offer hot-air balloon rides at Cappadocia. This is the latest in a series of accidents, after a Chinese tourist was killed in a balloon crash in December 2014 and three Brazilian tourists died in a balloon collision in May 2013.
