Deadly bus attack in Istanbul

Blast hits police bus in city centre
An explosion killed 11 people – seven police officers and four civilians – on Tuesday morning in central Istanbul. The remote-controlled device targeted a passing police bus.
The bus was travelling through the city’s busy Vezneciler district, close to tourist areas of historic Beyazit Square, during the morning rush hour. Around 36 other people were injured and nearby buildings were damaged.
No group has yet claimed responsibility. But violence in Turkey has escalated recently as tensions with Kurdish separatists increase and the conflict in neighbouring Syria continues.
