Decline in arrivals to Turkey slows

Turkey sees recovery in tourism numbers from Russia
The ongoing decline in the number of foreigners visiting Turkey has slowed, just, to a single percentage digit for the first time in 12 months, to 9.81%.
“The number of foreigners visiting Turkey in January was 1,055,474, which is a 9.81% decrease from a year earlier,” a new report by the country’s culture and tourism ministry states.
Figures suggest signs of improvement in Turkey’s once booming tourism sector, which has been suffering since a series of terror attacks and the November 2015 jet crisis with Russia.
Georgians top the list of visitors for January with 13.36% share, followed by Iran (9.63%), Germany (7.46%), Bulgaria (7.38%) and Russia (3.8%).
There has been some recovery in tourism numbers from Russia, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan now that Turkey has managed to revive bilateral ties. The number of visitors from Russia increased by as much as 81.5% in January from the same month a year earlier.
