Denmark’s biggest-ever dinner party

Aarhus to combine food fest and European Capital of Culture
Aarhus’ Food Festival is due to take place again in the first weekend of September. But with the Danish city being European Capital of Culture this year it’s set to be bigger than ever.
Described as “the biggest food event in Northern Europe”, it will be hosting events such as Danish Championship in Hotdogs. Typically, the festival makes a point of innovation and also interaction with the audiences.
Boosting arrivals by around 30,000 visitors in one weekend, the primary purpose is to communicate inspiration and gastronomic knowledge about Nordic food culture.
Special events and tastings include seaweed safaris, sausage-making and cabbage workshops, and gourmet picnics along the shore.
Another highlight will be the People’s Feast, which will gather several thousand people along a 500-metre-long table by the sea. To encourage discussions and debates, eight kitchen stations there will “create food with a vision, a story and knowledge with an unexpected twist of favourite dishes”.
