Denmark’s favourite holiday countries listed

Italy top for second year, but Turkey, US and Canada drop
Italy is top of the list of Danes’ favourite summer holiday destinations, for the second year in a row, with 17% of people from Denmark travelling there in July for a period of at least four days.
Mobile phone service provider TDC made the list by monitoring nearly 700,000 of its customers’ mobile phone data on weeks 27 to 30 (July 3-31). Germany is second with 14%, followed by Spain with 13%.
France (9%) and Sweden (8%) are also in the top five, while Greece (6%), the UK (3%), Croatia (3%), Norway (3%) and Turkey (3%) complete the top 10.
The ranking is similar to last year, but Turkey drops from 7th to 10th, while Croatia is a newcomer. The US and Canada, 10th last year, are now outside the top 10.
“As part of our mobile phone net operations, we register which nations the phones are in,” said Peter Trier Schleidt, senior executive vice president of TDC.
“We do this so our customers are charged the correct international fees, but it also affords us the opportunity to undertake some unique big data analyses, such as this one.”
