Egypt brings in new airport security team

Egypt signs deal with security firm Control Risks
The Egyptian government has signed an agreement with security company Control Risks in a bid to “enhance” its airport security.
Egypt’s minister of tourism Hisham Zaazou confirmed the new deal, insisting that the government was “committed to making sure people from around the world have a safe, secure and enjoyable experience when visiting Egypt”.
He added that the agreement with Control Risks was part of the government’s “commitment to a world-class gold standard”.
he move comes four months after a number of countries banned flights to Egypt’s Sharm el-Sheikh airport following the crash of a Russian Metrojet aircraft, thought to have been downed by a bomb. All 217 passengers and seven crew were killed.
Zaazou said Control Risks teams were “already on the ground beginning their work, and building on the huge efforts undertaken by both the Egyptian authorities as well as international government security delegations”.
“Ensuring safety and security for everyone travelling within our country, visiting our historic sites or enjoying our resorts is a top priority for the Egyptian government,” he added.
