Plane forced to land after wife beats husband mid-flight

A woman “blew her top”, according to press reports, when she discovered in the middle of a flight that her husband was having an affair, forcing the pilots to make unscheduled landing.

The Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Bali, Indonesia, made the unscheduled stop in Chennai, India, after the woman used her sleeping husband’s thumb to unlock his smartphone.

The couple and their child, said to be from Iran, were flying to Bali for a holiday. The woman repeatedly beat her husband after discovering his infidelity and the cabin crew were unable to restore order.

The family did not have an Indian visa, so they were taken to a detention centre at the airport before eventually being put on a Batik Air flight to Kuala Lumpur.

Such a ruckus
“Qatar Airways flight QR-962 was diverted to Chennai after the pilot requested it citing unruly passenger on board as the reason,” an officer from India’s security force told the Hindustan Times. “The woman and her husband, along with their child, were offloaded and the flight departed for Bali.”

The crew could not calm the wife when she “blew her top after discovering his infidelity,” the paper reported. The Times of India said she made “such a ruckus” that the plane had to make an unscheduled landing.
