Bed & breakfast phenomenon is fast emerging in Europe
The B&B branch of tourist accommodation in Europe is relatively young, but it is flourishing. Only 15% of the bed & breakfasts in Europe were started before the year 2000, and a large majority (59%) started in 2006 or later. Now, every month, an average 2,400 B&Bs are being added to Bedandbreakfast.eu, Europe’s largest B&B-site, passing the milestone of 50,000 B&Bs in Europe. Number 50,000 was named as Bed & Breakfast Ai Vicerè in Palermo, Sicily.
For an overnight stay in a B&B in Europe, a guest pays an average of €74 for two people including breakfast. A standard double hotel room, by comparison, can cost one hundred euro or more.
