Emirates studies “trans-Pacific” global supremacy

Airline could use fleet of A380s to operate Asia-US routes

Emirates, the world’s biggest international airline, is studying plans to fly people in Asia over the Pacific to the USA using the world’s largest fleet of wide-body aircraft. The airline would be able to board people in countries like Singapore, Thailand and Japan under open skies arrangements secured by the United Arab Emirates, Bloomberg reports.
Its fleet of Airbus A380s, which is set to grow to 90 planes, could easily fly from northern Asia to cities in the north and central US, the airline’s president Tim Clark said at the IATA AGM in Cape Town. So could Boeing 777-200LRs.
“The last piece of the jigsaw is the trans-Pacific,” Clark said in a briefing on airline strategy. “Where we will go, when we will do it and with what is under plan at the moment.”
