Europe’s “best luxury hostels” listed

Budget city breaks without losing the comfort
To coincide with a new guide, Luxury Hostels of Europe, written by Kash Bhattacharya, published in partnership with hostelworld.com and available as a free download at budgettraveller.org, newspaper The Guardian lists ten of Europe’s best luxury hostels. The hostels provide a budget city break without losing out on comfort or facilities.
The easy-going hostel LaBanda Rooftop in Seville, for example, has dorm beds from €23 and “a beautiful roof terrace dedicated to communal dinners, held every night – with views over Seville’s stunning cathedral”. There are no private rooms and lots of communal spaces, but there is a boutique feel with handmade wooden beds.
Les Piaules is set inside an art deco building in trendy Belleville, Paris, and is a hub for young people making the most of the surrounding nightlife. It has doubles as well as dorms.
With dorm beds from €16 and doubles from €38, Generator is a bargain for Venice. “A waterside former granary, it has mosaic floors, murano glass chandeliers and lots of velvet, so there’s still a good dose of Venetian richness” the newspaper writes.
Other hostels covered in the article are located in Amsterdam, Berlin, St Petersburg, Prague, Porto, Ljubljana and Rome.
