Airline adds over 280,000 additional seats for 2018
Finnair revealed today that it would boost capacity next year to several of its existing destinations in Germany, totalling 280,000 additional seats for 2018.
From March 26, the Finnish flag carrier is adding a fourth daily frequency between Helsinki and Berlin. Additional capacity will also be added to the German capital for the upcoming winter season, by flying the route with a larger aircraft.
In total, it will add over 145,000 seats between both cities from now until the end of the summer 2018 season.
Finnair also says it is adding capacity on many of its existing routes in Germany. In total, it has increased its capacity to Germany by 24% for 2018.
Finnair currently flies daily to five German destinations including Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich. It will also start flying daily to a sixth destination, Stuttgart, from April 23.
Finnair explains that its flights to Germany have seen strong demand from customers travelling to and from Asia, Russia, the United States and the Baltics.
“We have seen steady growth in demand for travel between Germany and Asia which is a great opportunity for us given our quick and efficient connecting hub at Helsinki Airport,” said Juha Järvinen, Finnair CCO.
“In the past year alone, we have seen strong double digit sales growth between Asia and Germany, with travel to and from Japan especially strong.”
