First luxury train to cross India debuts new roundtrip

Highlights include champagne breakfast at Taj Mahal, tiger safaris, elephant polo

The first luxury train to cross India, the Maharajas’ Express, will debut a new roundtrip itinerary next month. Called the Royal Sojourn, it will be an eight-day / seven-night journey including some experiences and destinations previously inaccessible by luxury train. New highlights will include thehistorical city of Kota in southeastern Rajasthan, with visits to the 13th century Garh Palace, one of the biggest and most imposing forts in the state; a boat cruise on the River Chambal, breeding ground of the Gharial crocodiles and a royal dinner at the Rajput-Victorian Umed Bhawan Palace.
Other highlights include a champagne breakfast overlooking the Taj Mahal to tiger safaris in Ranthambore National Park and elephant polo in Jaipur.
