Flybe to open Birmingham-Oslo, extends Reykjavik

Regional airline announces routes from UK’s second city

Flybe has announced eight new winter routes from the UK’s second city Birmingham. From October 26, the regional airline will fly to two new destinations, Oslo and Hamburg, while flights to Reykjavik, Florence, Oporto, Cologne, Toulouse and Bordeaux are extended to operate year round.

The news will lead to an estimated additional 100,000 passengers, the airline says, and will take its winter schedule from Birmingham to 350 flights a week on 26 routes.

It follows Flybe’s April announcement of a five-year deal with London City Airport.

The group is aiming to expand its branded scheduled commercial operation by developing new routes and bases within the UK, following its successful fund raise of £150 million (€184 million) in March 2014.
