Luxury hotels of the world in focus in Forbes

Undersea suites, marble bathrooms and isolated luxury cabins…

A number of the world’s most singular luxury hotels are listed in the latest issue of Forbes. One is a series of secluded log cabins at a secret location in forests in New York State boasting world-class kitchen staff, a fleet of boats to choose from and huge fireplaces to stretch out next to. Called The Point, it is “the epitome of rustic luxury” according to one travel writer, and costs at least $1,300 a night, all inclusive. Walk-in visitors are not welcome. Less rusticated is Hong Kong’s oldest hotel, the Peninsula, which comes with “marble bathrooms, plasma screens in every room, an on-site spa, and spectacular views of Victoria Harbour and the Hong Kong cityscape”.
The Poseidon Undersea Resort in Fiji is the world’s first pressurised undersea structure and has its spectacular guest rooms in reinforced glass domes underwater so you can watch the fish swim around you. Prices start at $30,000 per couple per week. However, a hotel that is altogether more classical is the Four Seasons George V in Paris, faultlessly renovated in 2008, which has sumptuous displays of murals, the highest class of spa and pool and a perfect view of the Eiffel Tower.
