Four Thomas Cook heads leave in one week

Spokesperson says it is part of a “normal process”

Thomas Cook’s UK finance director has become the fourth director to leave the company in the space of a week. Nigel Arthur left the company with immediate effect.

He is the fourth member of the company to leave the board in a short space of time. But a spokesperson said it was part of “normal process”. He explained: “This is a normal process, that from time to time such a big organisation [implements] so that we have a chance for new talent in the organisation to take up such roles.”

Arthur’s departure is part of an exodus from Thomas Cook’s UK business, which started last Wednesday with the departure of managing director UK and Ireland Reto Wilhelm who has resumed his role within the operator as managing director East/West EU thanks to “personal reasons”.

Then on Thursday sales, marketing and ecommerce director Mike Hoban announced his departure to “pursue other opportunities” having joined Cook in November 2012. And on Friday director of government and external affairs Andy Cooper, who had worked at the operator for five years, also announced his departure.
