Hamas threatens to attack Tel Aviv airport

Commander says airport is “target of attack” for the day

The armed wing of the Hamas Islamist militant group that dominates Gaza has warned airlines to avoid Israel’s Ben-Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv, threatening to aim more of its rockets at it.

More missiles were fired by both sides this morning, with Israel’s strikes in Gaza killing a number of people. In a statement, a Hamas commander said the group had “decided to respond to the Israeli aggression” by making the airport a “target of attack” for the day.

This is not the first time the airport has been a target, with Hamas firing a rocket in its direction earlier in the crisis, but there were no casualties.
