Holiday islands pay people to visit them

Virgin Islands promotion marks date Denmark sold them
The Virgin Islands, a US territory of Caribbean islands known for their white-sand beaches and green hills, are willing to pay you to visit them. But there are a few catches.
Anyone who spends three nights or more on St Thomas, St John or St Croix can claim $300 – in the form of a spending credit for tours or activities on the islands, such as kayaking or museums.
The promotion commemorates a hundred years since Denmark sold the Virgin Islands to the USA. A visit there in March will give you a commemorative souvenir in honour of Transfer Day, March 31.
To claim the credit, visitors must book their trip via the islands’ tourism website, using the booking code CP1. The visit has to be made sometime in 2017 and travellers must stay at one of the islands’ participating hotels.
