Convene 2018 hosted buyer programme reaches all-time high

The organisers of Convene, an event for meeting professionals taking place in Vilnius, Lithuania each February, say there has been a noticeable rise in the number of applications submitted by European buyers with specific events they want to host in the Baltic region, as well as those representing more distant markets such as the US, India and China.

Hosted Buyers benefit from complimentary flights, transfers, accommodation, networking events, daytime and evening refreshments and the chance to take part in one of a number of fam trips in the region’s destinations, which expanded to include Gdansk this year.

Pre-scheduled appointments with choice exhibitors give buyers the flexibility and time needed to discover a range of suppliers from across the region while taking part in the Convene’s highly regarded education sessions, according to director Jolanta Beniulienė.

The next event will take place on February 14-15 next year at the Lithuanian Exhibition and Congress Centre Litexpo in Vilnius.

“We are continuing to see the impact Convene is having on our regional meetings and events industry,” she explains, as the “surge in applications to the Hosted Buyer programme” continues. “It’s no longer just about putting the Baltic Sea region on the map across Europe, either; the increase of Hosted Buyers from long-haul destinations is giving destinations across our region an important degree of global relevance. This will undoubtedly provide added benefits to everyone attending the show.”

Meeting professionals meet
Organised by the Vilnius Convention Bureau, Convene is a business marketplace with non-stop networking opportunities for meeting professionals. The event brings together the Baltic Sea region’s meeting and events industry under one roof and encourages the sharing of knowledge and best practice by bringing suppliers and buyers together.

Over 165 hosted buyers from Europe and beyond are expected to attend in February, with an estimated 3,500 prescheduled business meetings to be conducted with some 80 exhibitors from the region over the two-day event.

A survey held after Convene 2017 showed that 99% of participants, including hosted buyers, exhibitors and visitors, were satisfied with the event, while 67% of exhibitors secured direct business requests during the event.
