The readers of the highly regarded travel magazine Condé Nast say the Strandvägen property in the best in the land.
The classic upmarket Hotel Diplomat Stockholm has been named by the readers of the well-known magazine Condé Nast Traveler as Sweden’s best hotel – and one of the five best in Northern Europe.
Besides being the Best Hotel in Sweden, the Diplomat is also listed in the top five under the category Best Hotels in Northern Europe.
The five-star Art Nouveau-style property, which has been in the Malmström family for four generations, has always considered itself to be a tradition bearer, but it has also been “at the forefront of Swedish hotels in terms of renewal”, say its owners.
Condé Nast readers agree that the property “stands for something timeless yet modern Scandinavian design and art have made their mark on the beautiful building too, appealing to international as well as Swedish guests”, the hotel says.
Almost half a million Condé Nast Traveler readers voted for their best travel experiences in the global survey, resulting in the latest round of Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards, which the magazine calls “the best of the best in travel”.
“We are truly proud and pleased that Condé Nast Traveler readers voted us as Sweden’s best hotel,” says Anna Cappelen, chairman of the Hotel Diplomat.
“It is a clear acknowledgment that we have perceived what today’s travellers are asking for and also deliver it in the best possible way. It shows that the work of our CEO Lina Gabrielson and her team is appreciated by our guests.”
New villa to open
Besides the hotel itself, the Diplomat also includes a restaurant, bar and shop on the waterside avenue Strandvägen.
Next summer, the new boutique hotel Villa Dagmar will also open as part of the group, described as “a luxurious and international hotel experience on Nybrogatan and Östermalmstorg in the heart of Stockholm.”
