How airports can delight passengers

Essential facilities for airports to keep passengers happy

The ideal airport should be a destination in itself, a place where you’d actually like to spend a little time exploring or relaxing. Lonely Planet’s community of travellers have posted their thoughts on airport must-haves. Suggestions include a barber’s shop and somewhere to buy clean underwear, but the most common essentials are: a place to freshen up (a shower, fresh change of clothes, reasonably priced socks), and not just for “special lounge” members; a place to eat healthily; somewhere to leave the children for a while; an in-airport fitness centre; somewhere to wash clothes; a room where passengers can play board games with other passengers and even a place to “meet up” with other passengers more intimately.
