How hotels are improving guests’ fitness

Trend of hotel chains making it easier to work out
Long periods travelling can be bad for the health, disrupting people’s weekly fitness regimes. Hotel chains are starting to recognise this and are making it easier for guests to stay fit.
Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, for example, has a Fairmont Fit program for members of the hotel’s loyalty program that delivers workout gear to their rooms, including a basket of tennis shoes, workout clothes and new socks.
Westin takes not only clothing but equipment to the guest room, such as cardio equipment, yoga mats and resistance balls, while Omni’s Get Fit Kit includes a yoga mat, mini weights, a five-pound kettle ball and push-up bar.
Kimpton has yoga mats in all guest rooms already as well as a fleet of bikes at its hotels, and Hyatt’s concierges can deliver lightweight equipment to the rooms, where guests can tune into dedicated yoga TV channels.
IHG’s fitness brand Even Hotels, mainly in the north-eastern US, takes things even further. There, the entire experience is designed for the health-conscious, with yoga mats, foam rollers, exercise balls and a workout bar all in the rooms.
