Iberia unions may strike in December

Strikes could happen between December 14 and 21

Employees at Iberia are thinking about the December holiday season as a possible period to hold a series of strikes to protest against a wave of job cuts, a union representative says. The strikes could take place between December 14 and December 21. As previously reported, Iberia plans to cut around a quarter of its workforce and slash capacity as part of a restructuring plan.
“All of the unions are in intense talks to fix dates for action against the plan to dismantle Iberia,” a spokesman for Spain’s second-biggest union UGT said. “We’re not willing to accept sacrifices that only lead to breaking Iberia apart. We want to negotiate a viability plan that contemplates growth at Iberia, not just shutting down routes.”
